The mission of BRAC and BRAC USA is to empower people and communities in situations of poverty, illiteracy, disease and social injustice. Our interventions aim to achieve large-scale, positive changes through economic and social programs that enable everyone to realize their potential.

BRAC is a global leader in developing and implementing cost-effective, evidence-based programs to assist the most marginalized people in extremely poor, conflict-prone, and post-disaster settings. These include initiatives in education, healthcare, microfinance, women and girls’ empowerment, agriculture, human and legal rights, and more.

 Based in New York, BRAC USA is the North American affiliate of BRAC. BRAC USA provides comprehensive support to BRAC around the world by raising awareness about its work to empower the poor in 11 countries and mobilizing resources to support programs. BRAC USA works closely with its international counterparts to design and implement cost-effective and evidence-based poverty innovations worldwide. BRAC USA is an independent 501(c)(3) organization.

About the Position


BRAC USA seeks a passionate storyteller with exceptional communications skills and a career interest in international development, digital marketing, or communications.

The Communications Intern will report to the Senior Communications Associate and work as an integral part of a highly effective team to support BRAC USA’s communications and fundraising efforts.

Content creation (visual & written) – Author stories and blog posts and design infographics and other creative that illustrate BRAC’s successes. Draft reports on program developments for crowdfunding websites.

Social media – Support a robust social media calendar, in conjunction with UN holidays, special events, and internal appeal schedules, to engage donors and influencers and enhance social media presence.

 Digital fundraising – Support appeal campaigns, from content creation to data entry, monitor digital efforts (including Google analytics, social media conversions, and others), and assist with website updates.



  • A proven passion for international development and BRAC’s mission
  • Superb writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a keen eye for detail
  • Ability to adapt writing to a variety of audiences, from the technical to everyday
  • A thorough and demonstrated understanding of social media strategy
  • Design and layout proficiency preferred, particularly with the Adobe Creative Suite
  • A familiarity with digital fundraising strategies, tools, and best practices
  • Ability to both balance competing priorities and communicate preferred working style
